What is the difference between dress round and boot round laces?

The primary difference is diameter and finish. Dress round laces are typically 2mm–3mm thin and often "waxed" to provide a slight sheen and extra grip. Boot round laces are much thicker (4mm–5mm), featuring a reinforced core and a rugged braid designed to withstand friction against metal speed hooks.

Why do round laces sometimes come untied more easily than flat laces?

Because round laces have a smaller surface area, there is less friction within the knot. To prevent this, we recommend using a waxed round lace, which adds a tacky layer of paraffin to "lock" the fibers together, or using a "Double Slip Knot" (the Surgeon's Knot) for added security.

Are round laces better for boots?

Yes. Round laces are the industry standard for boots because their shape allows them to handle the high tension required for ankle support. They also slide through heavy-duty eyelets and speed hooks more smoothly than flat laces, which can twist or bunch up under pressure.

How do I clean my round shoelaces?

For cotton or synthetic round laces, remove them from the shoes and soak them in warm water with a small amount of mild detergent. For waxed laces, avoid hot water as it can melt the wax coating; instead, wipe them down with a damp cloth to maintain their luster and grip.
